Good Game

By cronic420 on Fri, 2006-04-14 02:08
Pros: adictive, and the claymation rocks
Cons: could use better variety of power up
in this game you take on the role of a pilot. You and your ship must save the planet from what looks to be aliens, at least they look like U.F.O.'s. As you progress through each level you clear...

Very Poor Game

By FinalFantasyFan on Sun, 2006-03-26 03:14
Pros: Its real easy
Cons: Slow game play, boring game, poor graphics etc
It’s an easy game to play but not very exciting at all; the graphics are very basic and would probably appeal to a small child. But I don’t think that the graphics would impress anyone over the...

Same Old Shooter, With A Brand New Look

By perfectbrak on Wed, 2006-03-08 04:42
Pros: Extremely creative visuals, two player mode, great music
Cons: Gameplay isn't original
Platypus is a side-scrolling shooter that borrows elements from classic games. You take the role of piloting an advanced ship, destroying enemies with nondescript blasters. Upgrades can be obtained...

Fun, nostalgic side-scroller

By cookiecaper on Tue, 2006-03-07 02:13
Pros: Fun, cool looking
Cons: Really nothing new, big download
Platypus doesn't really do anything different than the classic side-scrolling shooters, but one could be fooled. Foregoing the traditional 8-bit graphics, Platypus is built via claymation, resulting...

Yet another side scrolling shooter.

By Guitar_Guy83 on Fri, 2006-03-03 22:42
Pros: Very unique look that provides some eye candy.
Cons: Very boring, redundant gameplay.
Side scrolling shooters. We've all seen them, and we've all played them. So what makes this particular side scroller stand out from the rest? Honestly, not a whole hell of a lot. Platypus's graphics...

Wacky fun but with some reminiscence...

By CoLT on Thu, 2006-01-19 04:39
Pros: High replayability Multiplayer-capable Classic arcade reminiscence Cheap thrill
Cons: Free trial runs of a one hour timer Not playable on a laptop computer
This is a very interesting game. It has all the elements of a classic side-scrolling arcade shooter which brings back old memories. The graphics in the game are simple and cartoony which proves to be...

Weird Is The Right Word

By David on Wed, 2006-01-18 15:20
Pros: The soundtrack is wonderful, I've already mentioned the brilliant music, but I’m going to mention it again, because it's just so great! But you will have to hear it to really get a feel for just how great it is. The sound effects do feel a little rough but they are fitting with the playful graphics and music.
Cons: There are only two other little things I didn't like about Platypus. One of which being that on the map it looks like you are going to get five episodes in the full version, but you only get four. The other being that the final boss is crap.
I am sure of one thing – you have NEVER played any game like that. I am a big game skeptic, too. In fact, it’s very, very unusual that I stumble upon some indie game that I really love and devote...
