Review:

The installation process of Outpost firewall is very easy, simply is necessary to press next, next and define a couple of rules.

This firewall can act in 3 basic ways:

* Disable Mode (Permissive mode): Allows most of the incoming traffic, advised against unless you are an advanced user and really trust in the security of your Windows.

* Rules Wizard (Learning mode): When a program wishes to connect Outpost asks for this new connection giving several options: to block, to allow or to use predetermined rules. Furthermore if a program wants to connect by some strange port, the firewall warns to you. I think this way would have to be used by defect.

* Block Most (Restrictive mode): this way would have to be only used in a high risk scenario and by advanced users, since it is a very restrictive mode and if you don't know what are you doing, you can loose your internet connection.

Another feature that has this excellent program is that it can be configured by different users in the same machine defining each one their own profile.

The UI of the program is clear and simple, allowing us to see what programs are using the network, what ports are open and what programs listen at them.

The program offers plug-ins to increase their basic functionality completing the suite:
* Attachment scanner: Allows us to verify the attached content of the received mails.
* pop-up and ad blocking
* DNS cache: avoid making requests to the DNS continuously whenever we connected to a well-known site, already increasing the speed of connection and saving network resources.
* Active content: in order to avoid malicious Active-x, scripting languages, and other danger contents.
* Detection of attacks, ports scanning, intrusions attempts

Finally It is good to see that a great amount of languages are supported.

Conclusion:

A very complete suite, Outpost Firewall Pro is an excellent program that will be helpful for the novice users which could find very useful its default configuration and for advanced users who will be able to completely customize it.
