Review:

MySlideShow is another software to enable the transformation of static pictures into slideshows, using music, transition effects, and other resources. Its objective it to make the task very simple, accessible to the home users. Lets see if it succeeded:

Installation: Very easy and straight forward. It gives you a 30 day trial period with full functionality, what is nice. Requires around 8Mb of disk space.

Training: It does not have a tutorial, what is a mistake specially considering that it could be done with its own software, not only teaching how to use it, but also showing its capabilities. It has a help that is not very comprehensive, but fits its purpose.

Interface: The interface is clear, with the window split into areas. In the beginning it may be a little bit difficult to figure out how to do what, as there is no pre-determined logical path (like an assistant or a wizard), but after a while you get used to it. Could use some improvement anyway.

Functionality: It has the regular features one would expect for this kind of software. It allows the selection of pictures to be included in the slide show, the music to be played, and the transition effects to be used. It has an excellent set of transitions to choose from, allowing you to either select them or have them picked at random. Although it allows some slide editing, like the inclusion of captions, it lacks the ability to edit the picture, retouching, cropping, etc., what ends up requiring the use of a separate program for that. Also, I noticed that there is no option to auto synchronize the music with the slideshow so that both could end at the same time.

Output: It allows saving the slideshow as an executable file, as a screensaver, on an autorun CD, or as a video. When selecting to record as a video on a CD or a DVD , it has many interesting options such as format (CD, VCD, DVD), TV System (PAL, NTSC), aspect ratio (traditional or widescreen), etc. but surprisingly does not give the ability of the creation of menus and chapters.

Performance: The software runs very fast, and I did not notice significant degradation of my PC while multi-tasking.

Conclusion:

It is a simple, straight forward product, aimed at the home user that wants to create slideshows without much effort.
