DOC Regenerator Review
Extremely Useful for Small Businesses
You can buy it at RegNow for that price.
-The fact that there is a 30-day trial period for this software is definitely a major pro because I would not recommend buying this product until after you try/test it. -The fact that it can recover password protected documents is a major plus point. I found this very useful & it saved me a lot of time & tension. -Another major selling point is that the program can recover corrupted documents as well. This is particularly useful if your hard-disk is worn out or damaged. It acts as a secondary/emergency backup resource in this case. -File systems are ignored during the search & recovery process. This is an added advantage that saves the user a lot of time and energy that would otherwise be wasted by sifting through the hundreds of unwanted documents. -It is compatible with both FAT & NTFS file systems. -It is capable of recovering documents from lost or removed partitions and even from reformatted disks. -Relatively easy to use.
-It tends to hang the XP operating system. I am not aware as to how other operating systems react to the software as I only use XP. I noticed that it tends to hang during the search process. -Recovered documents are, at times, un-readable. -The software is not compatible with the new Microsoft Office 2007 & Windows Vista. This will lead the users to believe that it is already obsolete. -Inability to search for a document in a specific folder. You can only run a search that covers the entire disk. -Inability to password protect the program itself (during startup). -Rather over-priced.
Doc Regenerator does have some flaws that definitely need to be assessed & fixed, but putting those aside, I have to say that I was satisfied with the final product. I run a small auditing firm and we store hundreds of documents on a PC network that has not been upgraded for about 3-years. When I initially acquired this software, I was apprehensive about its effectiveness, but it proved to be worthwhile & it saved my workers a lot of time. It is constantly being used to recover old & archived documents. Although it is not 100% effective, it has recovered & regenerated an immense amount of documents that proved to be invaluable.
I have to point out that this is not one of those programs that I would use continuously. After it completed its task I set it aside & have not used it since. That’s why I don’t know how much value for money it will fetch you. Maybe I would use it more regularly than others, but for home use I can’t see how much of a bonus it would be. That’s why I am again stressing on the fact that it should be tested before you commit to buying it.
After having bought the software it occurred to me that since it can access password protected word documents, it can be a bit of a security threat. For this reason I did not wish to keep it installed on my work PC for extended periods of time. It would have been much better if access to the program was password protected.
The program interface is fairly easy to use & straightforward. It is not overly complicated & would be compatible in a home & work environment. Also, the system requirements are not steep at all.
The lack of compatibility with Windows Vista & Office 2007 is a major drawback as it makes the program seem obsolete & gives it a very limited market scope. It would have also been a much better product if it were able to perform the same function on Excel Spreadsheets & PowerPoint presentations.
I can’t see how this program would be useful for home PC users. It would be wiser for them to use the “30 day money back guarantee” option, because besides being slightly overpriced, I doubt that it would be of use more than 1 or 2 times. However, the target customers would be those running small or fledgling businesses like myself. Document recovery is a massive boon to have. For that purpose, this program is ideal. Besides some issues, it gets the work done, is easy to use & is more reliable than not.
