Search Maker Pro Review

First of all, I am happy to say that this program works on Vista 32 bit and Vista 64 bit, and I have tested it out on Vista Home Premium, Vista Ultimate, and Vista Business Edition.

On my first try, I indexed a website with well over five thousand pages. Although indexing was a bit slow, the software worked efficiently and I didn't need to view the help files, since the steps were pretty much self-explanatory. Once the search page was created, the search box worked as it should, and most my searches went through flawlessly.

However, I could not find any advanced settings like having the search engine in another language. [Although that is probably not expected in a search engine aimed at beginners.] The only advanced settings I could find were pretty basic, and allowed for a slight customization at best.

Finally, the help files I found only covered instructions on the steps to create a search engine. There was nothing there for troubleshooting, customization, etc, and I could not find any live support on their website.

Overall, I found this program to be a nice supplement to my website. It was clean, easy to use, and not riddled with useless features. My only regret is that the creators put a huge price tag on the software, and didn't spend enough time on support.
