Review:

Side scrolling shooters. We've all seen them, and we've all played them. So what makes this particular side scroller stand out from the rest? Honestly, not a whole hell of a lot.

Platypus's graphics resemble that of clay animation, which I found highly intriguing, but the unique look of the game does not fill the void that the gameplay leaves behind.

Gameplay is exceedingly redundant. Move your ship around the screen, hoping to avoid the horde of enemies that fly torwards you, and shoot them until they die. I found myself admiring the background scenery a little more than focusing on staying alive.

The game's sounds, I found the be extremely annoying. The title music caused me to immediatley un-don my sennheisers until the game started. Also, I suspect that a few of the game's sound effects were ripped off from older titles.

Conclusion:

Overall, a very mediocre title. If your a die hard side scroller fan, it may be worth a look for its refreshingly unique graphics, but most will be bored easily.
