Review:

I'm an independent comic creator, and one of the main uses I got this program for was to create my own fonts for lettering. Professionally pre-created fonts can cost up to a hundred dollars or so, so being able to create my own fonts for lettering was a big plus. I have some what advanced skill in imaging, and using complex graphics programs, but this software seems to also be marketed towards the everyday user, so I'll give you my opinion on both sides.

The first thing you'll notice is that the interface isn't very intuitive, and looks a little outdated. For myself, a little poking around and I got started, but an average user may be turned off by this. The software could definitely use a better interface, and that alone could get this software closer to a 5 star rating. The overall process of scanning your art/writing is somewhat simple.

That process is the best part of the program; it recognizes and converts your images near flawlessly, and allows you a lot of room to edit any mistakes. Advanced users as well as average users will blow right through this process pretty easily. The biggest issue is tweaking the final product into being a font actually worth having. With all the spacing issues, aligning, and more getting the font "just perfect' can be a tedious process. Advanced users won't have much of an issue with this, but I can see it being trouble for the novice who just wants to "jump in".

Conclusion:

Overall, this is a great program, for professionals, I definitely recommend. I'd suggest this to only novice users who are seriously interested in font-making.
