Review:

I said it in the title. This really is that good. For a long time I used eTrust Pest Patrol. I thought that it was a really good spy sweeper program...and it is. The only problem with being good is that it is hard to stay good because there is always someone trying to be better than you. This is the case with SpywareDoctor. PC Tools has done it again. First with Registry Mechanic, now with SpywareDoctor. This is the only spy sweeper program that I ever use now. It is so good, I even convinced my aunt (who had been plagued by a slow PC due to the spyware her two teenage daughters infinte internet downloading and browsing allowed onto her computer) to buy a copy.

The program itself is not that different to use than any other spyware sweeper. It has the usual scan, immunize, auto-protect/auto-update features. What makes it different you ask? What makes it so great? It is great because it searches every square bit of your hard drive. To clarify how thorough this program is...let me hit you with some knowledge. 8 bits equals one byte. 1024 bytes equals 1 kilobyte. 1024 kilobytes equals on megabyte. 1024 megabytes equals one gigabytes. Most hard drives are at least 40GB (40 gigabytes). That is about 343,597,383,680 bits (yes that's over 343 trillion bits that are each checked). Not to mention, I have never had an instance where there has been any spyware that this program didn't pickup.

To test it, I had an IT friend of mine bring over some spyware on a disk. I told him to bury it as deep as he could on my computer. After about 20 minutes he came to me and said "now run your spy sweeper program...I guarantee that it won't be able to pick up the spyware". Curious to see how good the program was, I did a thorough scan. Let me say that I have two hard drives for a total of 114GB of space to scan. After about 30 minutes, SpywareDoctor had finished. I checked to see what it had come up with. It came up with 48 instances of spyware on my computer INCLUDING his. To come up with that many since I had run the program the day before was, needless to say, impressive. I have been hooked ever since.

My friends, let me tell you that this is the ULTIMATE spyware sweeper. It has a thoroughness like I have never exprienced in that other program I used to use. I auto-updates whenever you want it too. I have mine updated every night to try to keep up with all of the new spyware the idiots are coming up with and sending out. Everytime I open the program, it shows me when I last updated, how many spware signatures that it can identify, when my last scan was, what my last scan results were, and the total number of scans I have performed. That's pretty much all that I need to know right on the main screen. I have never had to try with this program. I recommend it to anyone who cares for their valuable posessions.

Conclusion:

I will never use another spyware sweeper again. It costs lest than most but is more thorough than most. What more proof do you need than someone saying that it is the only thing that he will ever use? I constantly refer people to this program. Whether they take my advice is either their success or their failure.
