Review:

The aroma of coffee in the air, the small-talk of customers, the friendly smiles of baristas. Coffee Tycoon exudes all of this. Yet it lacks the boost of energy that a good cup of coffee gives.

The game opens with a colorful, user-friendly interface that handles with ease. Choose a name, choose a style and choose your location. Then you assign a percentage of employees for each of three jobs: Executives, Magagers and Baristas. More of each employee type means more of your stores, customers, or employees.

The main goal of the game is to grow your company. That's it. You just need to make it grow and grow and grow. Sure this is fun at first - getting upgrades for your stores, having more money, etc. - but after a while it gets to be the same thing over and over. I mean, given that you don't go to extremes in managing your employees the game literally plays itself. You just get to guide it along a bit.

This would be okay if the game was free, but at $17 it's not really worth the money.

Conclusion:

Good enough for a few minutes or hours of fun but the repetetive "continuous expansion" nature of the game tends to dampen the enjoyment. Sure you get bigger numbers. But so what?
