Review:

Introduction:

For most average computer users the "Windows Registry" would sound like a vaguely familar yet intimidating and geeky term. To put it in the simplest terms, the aptly named windows registry is a central "filing location" that stores information about all the software installed on your computer and other settings, hardware and software information.

As you can easily imagine during regular use of your machine, this information can get cluttered, bloted and in some cases cause your machine to slow down or crash. Hence the need for a "Registry cleaner" that cleans away this registry crud.
The Registry Mechanic is perfect for the Job.

Insatllation:

It has a very simple installation process lasting about 2-3 Minutes and once you activate your software with the registration key provided you are up and running

Operation:

The software itself has a very clean and uncluttered interface.
you are presented with three main options in the form of three buttons (version 5.1.0). these are "Scan your Registry" "Optimize system" and "Compact Registry"

Running a scan on your regsitry is as simple as clicking the big "Scan your Registry" button on then main screen. Once the scan completes it will alert you to the problems it finds. You can choose to selectively fix them all get them all in one swoop by doing a fix all. The scan itself is pretty quick and comprehensive.

There is also a back up created so that should the fixing cause your computer to become unstabele you can always go back. To its credit in the 6 months I have been using this I never had to restore from back up.

Updating:

Updating is simple with an on-line smart update feature that will check for any new versions constantly. However this did not always work as intended so I end up having to manually click on the smart update option once evry week or so.

Conclusion:

Registry mechanic is a great stand-alone product for what it does. However it is a bit pricey for its functionality.
