Review:

The shortest distance between two points may be a straight line, but in the colorful world of Enigmo you'll be afforded no such luxury. Throughout every one of its unique and engaging levels you'll design all manner of crazy contraptions in order to reach your goals.

Enigmo is an example of what can happen when designers take a great idea and make it even better. It's clear that the team played games like Lemmings and The Incredible Machine, and realized there was indeed room for improvement. Here, instead of little lemmings you have drops of water you must guide to the objective. The physics, while not as realistic as some games can boast, allow for a lot of creative experiences.

The biggest difference however, is the removal of arbitrary elements of failure; you never run out of water, so there isn't really a way to "lose" a level. Endless water means you're able to tinker around with the equipment until you hit upon something that works. Get 50 drops of water into the goal and you've won. It's just that simple, and it's just that complicated too!

At first levels begin fairly straightforward but do steadily increase in difficulty. Soon you'll have multiple sources of water (or fire or...green stuff) along with multiple goals to reach. You'll likely spend some time attempting to figure out how best to tackle each obstacle, but it never gets frustrating or stressful. Fun is underscored here, not precision.

There is even a sandbox mode in which players can create their own level, or string of levels. There's a lot to like about this game, and it's one that everyone is sure to have fun with. It's great to see a game that, while relatively modest in its production, can still be just as good if not better than other titles in the genre.

Conclusion:

Great for gamers of all ages, everyone will find something to like here.
