Review:

Cosmo Bots is a relatively simple arcade style game in which you shoot lines out in opposite directions in hope that they will connect to their corresponding walls and fill the isolated area in. Once you fill in a certain percentage of the open space your beat the level. The challenging part is that there are other robots randomly flying or crawling around the level and if they run into your lines before they reach the walls you lose a life and have to start the level over again.

At first the shapes of the levels are simple and the number of opposing robots few but as you advance farther into the game the number enemy robots increases and the shapes of the levels make them harder to deal with. To help you (or hinder you) though are random power-ups which will sometimes appear when enemies die from being in a space that gets filled in by your lines. These power-ups can range from rockets you can shoot at the other robots to score multipliers and they all look different so you can pick up the good ones while avoiding the bad.

Overall it is a very addicting and enjoyable game but it does have some issues. The first and most notable is the repetitiveness. Once you are introduced to all of the power-ups and enemies the game loses it's momentum and it becomes hard to distinguish one level from the next. Also once you lose all of your lives you can simply start the game again at the last level you played with all of your lives back taking a lot of challenge out of the game. I also noticed a few glitches but nothing major or notably consistent.

The music is OK. Non-stop, fast beat, space-age techno gets old after a while but so does the game so they go hand in hand. The graphics, while not exactly impressive, are solid and definitely add to the game rather than hinder it. The biggest issue I have with this game is the price. It makes a great free game but simply lacks the depth to be much more.

Overall, Cosmo Bots is a very enjoyable game as long as you don't play too much of it in one sitting but unfortunately I can not recommend it for the price.

Conclusion:

A great remake of an old arcade-style game that is unfortunately way over-priced.
