Review:

The best way to approach games of this nature is to expect to be disappointed. Therefore either your expectations will be matched or you'll get a better experience playing the game than you expected. To say the least I enjoyed playing Crusaders Of Space.

  • FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Another Space Invaders clone with mock 3D graphics.
  • DESIGN/GAMEPLAY

Crusaders Of Space begins by placing you straight into the mist of battle. Immediately after selecting one of the three difficulty levels the player is flung in front of a horde of enemy ships. This immediately sets the tone of the game. The objective is quickly and easily comprehendible. You, must use your spaceship to destroy all the opposing spaceships without getting reduced to space dust by the oncoming projectiles.
Through out the first few levels this objective is easily achievable, with the player losing little to no lives. But as the game progresses so does the determination of the enemy ships. This creates a rising sense of competition between the player and the enemies.

  • PRESENTATION/GRAPHICS

The graphics, although leave alot to be desired in some areas (the explosion and menu graphics to mention a few), suit the games simplistic style very well. They are not so complicated that the players is left in a state of confusion, but not so simple that it leaves the player unsatisfied visually.

  • ACCESSABILITY/CONFIGURABILITY

Unfortunately Crusaders Of Space has few configurable options available to the user. With only the ability to change the brightness in the "Graphics" menu and no controller configurability, the game lacks the basic customisation that many people rely on.

  • AMBIENCE

Although the game is limited to a single soundtrack it relates well with the feel of the game. The music really helps combine the gradually improving difficulty with the player's concentration.

  • FINAL THOUGHTS

Ultimately I can see no replayable future for Crusaders Of War and unfortunantly this may just be another icon on your desktop waiting to be moved into the recycling bin and forgotten about.

Conclusion:

If you have the time and money to waste on this quirky space shooter then go ahead otherwise steer clear.

  • VALUE - 3/10
  • REPLAYABILITY - 4/10
  • OVERALL - 3/10
