Pros:
Does exactly as advertised; simple interface; fair price point.
Cons:
Has issues with files encoded by common media players; Experienced users might be frustrated by over-simplifed interface.
Review:

Interface is excellent for novice users, simplifying settings down to understandable terms. Experienced users will be frustrated by the over-simplification of certain settings.

DietMP3 does it exactly what it says by compressing MP3 files, but the system it uses to shrink the files has issues with certain files already run encoded through iTunes and Windows Media Player 8 and 9. But these files are easy to detect as they are displayed as "Unknown".

On the files DietMP3 did accept, it certain shrunk the file sizes. A 10MB song quickly became a 5MB song. A 6MB song became a 4MB song. A 2MB intro mp3 was shrunk down to three-quarters of a MB. These files when played back on mid and low quality speakers or headphones didn't show any signs of audio degradation, but on higher-end equipment the loss was very evident. Vocal tracks and main instrumental tracks were untouched however the highs and lows were butchered.

Conclusion:

DietMP3 is a fair product worth merit. Most users won't notice a loss in quality and will benefit from the decreased MP3 file sizes. Definately worth the price.
