Review:

I'm willing to bet that just about everybody's played word games - Scrabble, for instance, may be the most popular. These types of games are proven to increase vocabulary and activity in certain areas of the human brain. Dungeon Scroll certainly hints at this end, but when honestly assessed it definitely falls short of some of the more known brands.

Secondly, with this game, it's a bit like they talk up what the game does contain. Sure, there's Fantasy RPG elements. However, they get boring, and are rather limited in variety and development. It's also hard to get past the first few levels, because when you "die", you have to start completely over from the beginning of the first level. This makes it get unbearably boring and repetitive after a very short period of time. One or two game overs and I was getting bored. It is most definitely not worth the price of 13.45. The graphics, although not bad, lack pizazz, and anything entirely unique to make this game stand out. There are also probably similar games on the internet that you can play for free. This game also didn't run particularly well on my computer. I have Vista, and the gameplay was choppy. It would be better suited to an older computer.

Dungeon Scroll was, however, not without its good points. It was quite easy to learn, for one. It was also quite challenging. It contained some words that were new to me, so if one of its goals was to be educational, then I'd say that they were at least partially successful in that respect.

Conclusion:

Looking for a word game? Try online Scrabble. It's free, and a lot more interesting and well developed.
