Review:

I'M SCARED, IS IT HARD TO INSTALL?
During my test, installation was a snap. No complications or problems.

OK, NOW I"M SCARED TO USE IT.
Ace Utilities navigation is very simple. It is very well-organized for the novice user and offers plenty of customization options for the advanced user. The built in wizard makes it easy to run all the scans that Ace Utilities provides.

OK, SOUNDS GOOD. WHAT CAN IT DO?
Ace's strongest link is it's excellent registry cleaner with an pretty good utilities package. The package includes a Clean Disk, Duplicate File Finder, Startup Organizer, Internet History Clean, Broken Shortcut Cleaner, Securely Delete Files Forever, Uninstall Plus, Maintenance Wizard, Empty Folder Finder, Disk Analysis, and Auto-Update.

The Auto-Start manager grants instant access to programs which start automatically when you start your computer. This shows what is programs are running on your machine and allows you to delete or disable items you want removed from your startup. Cleaning your windows add/remove list is easy with this program. With most programs, when you manually delete something from windows, the uninstall options are removed as well, leaving references to these programs in your add/remove list. However, Ace Utilities has the ability to uninstall programs found in the Windows add/remove list. Ace Utilities offers 5 types of scans to locate and remedy your specific areas of concern and an all-in-one wizard to scan the entire program. The only real issue I saw was with their backup application. It was too tedious to us.

CAN I SCREW THINGS UP?
Ace Utilities does an good job identifying potential problems. It includes a ignore list designed to protect important registry entries. You may add your own items to this list. After performing a registry scan, Ace Utilities lists the location, specific data, and reason for each error encountered. The five specific scans allow you to focus on specific suspected problem areas. This program lacks the ability to rate the severity of each error. Therefore, it is difficult to make an informed choice of which errors to fix and which should be deleted.

OK, SO I SCREWED SOMETHING UP, CAN SOMEONE HELP?
The documentation for this program is pretty good. The package comes with a manual that is easily accessed by pressing the F1 key. There are available FAQs and email support on their website.

Conclusion:

Ace Utilities is an excellent registry-cleaning system, and does a good job fixing certain window problems. It is extremely user-friendly and offers a variety of tools to improve your overall machine performance. However, if you already pay for a antivirus like Norton's, I would suggest using your money and getting the full Norton Systemworks instead.
