Review:

There isn't much to say about Cryptainer. Two words: it's safe.

Alright there might be more to it than that. The software is very easy to use, but at a price. If you're willing to pay $45 for you to keep volumes at 25 GB safe than I would recommend it no doubt. If you need more space in those volumes you can pay an extra 25 bucks for Cryptainer SE which also gives you the option of a command line.

All versions of Cryptainer allow you to create passwords up to 100 characters. If you really need a password that long then you might need a pen, a paper, and a safe. My only problem with this type of software is it's based on a password that you create. Sure, the program works well, is easy to use, and protects your stuff, but you still have to remember the password. The one good and bad thing about this software is that there is no way to find your password if you forget it. So you're screwed if you forget it, plus the encryption is almost unbreakable unless you're a world class hacker. There is a great help service via email for all versions, but I'm not sure whether they will help you remember your password due to security issues.

My advice is this. If you have a password you can easily remember that is very long than this is the software for you. If you just want to hide files from someone in your house than this is also the software for you, just make sure you remember that password.

Conclusion:

It's a great piece of software, but you really have to want it to buy it.
