Review:

Many people are having problems with their typing speed. Ten Thumbs Typing Tutor is a software designed to help people increase their typing speed.

Ten Thumbs Typing Tutor is illustrated with attractive cartoon characters. The user interface is also easy to understand. In visual terms, it is above average.

The software also puts emphasis on many aspects on typing: typing numbers, special characters/symbols, and letters. Usually, typing-helper softwares put emphasis only on letters. The special characters, symbols, and numbers being tested on the software may seem trivial at first but in the long run it makes an all-rounded typist.

Another good thing in Ten Thumbs Typing Tutor is the ability to set student's goal. After each lesson, the software compares the student's recent result (typing speed) with the desired speed, and motivates the student if the goal hasn't been attained.

However, there are no outstanding feature in this software. The games presented in this software are packed with nice visuals, but they quickly bore adults and grown-ups. The time limit for each word or task in the game is too long, even for a user who has mentioned that he is an advanced typist.

Moreover, in the typing lesson, only one line of text is presented at one time. This distracts the student's concentration everytime he/she has to change lines. It will be much better and convenient if the text is presented in whole.

Conclusion:

There's no outstanding feature in the software. This software is a better fit for children and beginner typists than for adults and advanced typists.
