Review:

Ricochet Xtreme is the Reflexive's newest game addition to their Ricochet series. It is an arcade style breakout clone where players chip away blocks with a ball and a paddle.

Design/Creativity.

Ricochet impressed me yet again with their crazy power-ups, levels, and adding a little puzzle swing at the genre. The paddle is a abstract car model which you control with your mouse. There are many power ups such as a gun where it turns your paddle into a shooting machine and all you have to do is click to fan out energy to break the blocks. Levels consisted of mazes, puzzles, and humorous designs. Such as level was when you had to get the ball to an explosive block to "unlock" the rest of the blocks and gaining access to completing the level.

Gameplay.

The gameplay is fluid, but flawed. Ricochet Xtreme goes for the "retro" and abstract look. The controls are easy enough. The graphics were breathtaking for a game such as ricochet. It had beautiful animations and effects, especially the background. After the first few hours, the gameplay get repetitive very easily.I am disappointed that I found many glitches in the game. When I get the "sticky" power-up, The ball occasionally landed on the side of the paddle, not on top. In addition, some of the bricks will not break. This is frustrating and often requires me to restart Ricochet and the level.

Sound

The sounds are amazingly clear and well presented by the game. The sound plays on time and fits with the rest of the game. sometimes when your have to much going on the screen, the sound begins to crackle. Besides that, the sounds are excellent.

Conclusion:

A very fun game for the first few hours, but it starts to become repetitive. There are a small amount of glitches, but enough to ruin gameplay. Aside from that, the animations and graphics are beautiful. It's simple enough, being controlled by the mouse. Thumbs up for any casual gamer.
